Mr. Xavier W. Richardson, Choir Master/Organist

Xavier W. Richardson is a native of Miami, Florida, and serves as Director of Music & Organist at Saint Benedict’s, where he plays the Dorothy N. Bailey Memorial Organ, a 3-manual M.P. Moller instrument housing more than 3,500 pipes, and leads choirs in weekly liturgies and seasonal concerts.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Organ Performance and English, and a Master of Science in Entrepreneurship, all from the University of Florida. Xavier is currently pursuing his MBA from Babson College.

A member of the American Guild of Organists, he has performed recitals across the southeast United States and been recognized by Jacksonville’s Riverside Fine Arts Society as an “All-Star Performer” following a riveting performance of Frederick Delius’ American Rhapsody, an orchestral work commissioned for organ.

As a clinician, he has led workshops on topics including “Worship Innovation,” “Balancing Tradition and Culture in Worship,” and “Hymns and Contemporary Music: Why We Need Both.”

Xavier has studied with Dr. Laura Ellis (Organ Performance), Dr. Kevin Sharpe (Piano), Dr. Willard Kesling (Voice and Choral Conducting) – University of Florida, and has performed for and participated in masterclasses led by Pamela Decker, the late Marie-Claire Alain, the late Gerre Hancock and so many more across denominational lines.

Passionate about exposing the next generation to the arts and tech, he is a music teacher in the Broward County charter school system and the Founder of MusiCode Kids, the world’s first EdTech platform designed to teach kids to code music.

The Chancel Choir is a volunteer ensemble open to age groups ranging from first-year high school students to the young at heart who desire to worship God through song. You do not have to read music. However, the sight-reading ability is a plus.

The choir performs everything from contemporary to choral anthems in the Anglican tradition. From Hillsong to John Rutter, from Kirk Franklin to Orlando Gibbons, our music reflects our diverse community and universal faith. It actively engages worshipers in the praise and worship of God.

Rehearsals are Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:45 pm and Sunday at 9:30 am (before the 10 am service). In addition to singing at weekend liturgies, the Chancel Choir also performs throughout the community at interfaith concerts and performances.
